In search of Isadora Duncan

In Athens once again, conducting a training course for Skytali project*, we enjoyed the deep evocative atmosphere of the Duncan Dance Research Center**.

* Skytali is a community that embraces educational movement research and provides dancers and educators with the artistic tools for acting both individually and as a group. It’s a vibrant educational plan that introduces movement and the art of dance to primary school children.

** The Isadora & Raymond Duncan Dance Research Center (DDRC) was founded in 1980 by the Municipality of Byronas.  It is housed in a unique building of historic and architectural value, designed and built in 1903 by Isadora Duncan’s brother Raymond Duncan. Today, DDRC is a supporter of experimentation and creative development in the field of contemporary performance practices.

This post's pictures are from the superb book Life into Art, Isadora Duncan and Her World, by Doree Duncan, Carol Pratl, Cynthia Splatt.
